Community Resilience & Socio-Economic Programs
About this program:
Supporting livelihoods, youth, women, education and local governance to reduce vulnerability to violence.
Vulnerability to violence tends to grow where people lack livelihoods, education, a voice and trusted local governance. The Baobab Group supports livelihoods, youth, women, education and local governance to reduce that vulnerability.
The approach is community-owned: communities lead the agenda and solutions are locally owned. We begin with practical local issues so that trust is built step by step. Our non-kinetic work aims at community stabilization alongside, not instead of, legitimate state security efforts.
In practice (illustrative example) A programme may start with a local need identified by the community itself, such as skills or livelihood support for young people and women. Local governance structures take part in running it, so the benefits and the trust they create stay in the community.
